I am back!
Can we camp somewhere that is dog friendly so I can come?

Yesterday I rolled into Monroe, UT at about 5:30. I had heard about this hostel called Mystic Springs and I thought it sounded interesting but instead of calling first I wanted to test out my theory that “everything always works out exactly as it should” so I left it to chance, trusting that I would get what I needed. After 9 hours of driving, (two of them through hail and fog on a tiny back country highway) I finally submitted to the idea that maybe I was LOST!!! Just ahead, I saw a break in the clouds and blue sky…somehow I knew that was where I was headed. So I followed the sun and sure enough there were the signs for Monroe! After navigating my way through various small towns (utterly distracted by the beauty of the mountains) I finally found Mystic Springs, which is not now, nor has it ever been a hostel. Over a decade ago it was a restaurant. Now it is owned by a man who blows glass, makes music and enjoys his 150+ acres of Utah heaven. On his property are hot springs and acres after acres of beautiful trails. The guy at the desk offered to rent me a cabin, and not having much choice I agreed. For the same price, I had my choice between a brand new cabin with electricity and a balcony and a kitchen or a 10x10 cabin built in 1865 with no electricity and a warning of extreme cold. What the hell, this is my adventure right?
Bookclub is tomorrow, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at my house - 342 east 26th ave. I think most of you have been here before...
Hi everyone! I'm so sorry about not keeping up with the blog. I keep forgetting about it. Actually, I keep forgetting my password too. So, sounds and looks like brunch was fun. And now you have Easter weekend plans in the works...I guess we'll talk more about that on Monday. Andrea, we don't really celebrate Purim other than eating hamantashen (triangle cookies filled with poppy seed or fruit for those of you who might not know). Just have one more question before I go have dinner--are we doing anything for dinner on Monday night? Is it another potluck? I know it's an Irish themed night, so what exactly is on the menu? Syd

Thanks for coming out to the brunch...i am sorry to have rushed you all out of there. I had to go see the story of the caribou. It was really sad. I sure wish we were doing a better job as humans....to take care of this planet.
...the vernon idea is the only one I can afford at the moment (i am paying off my new bed for the next six months)
I like the Vernon idea - Ben wasn't keen on me spending our downpayment money on clothes... I want to check in with my parents first before I commit to anything - we usually have a family dinner for easter. Sydelle, that weekend is also Purim. Do we have eating - I mean, quiet observance - to do for that?
on the set of "friends" last night, Robin mentioned that she might be able to hook us up with a free place to stay...this post is to encourage her to elaborate on that idea....
I *heart* Seattle. Doesn't anyone have an expense account? I'm sure if we shared a hotel room or two it wouldn't be that expensive. Besides, I have to save my money for Urban Outfitters ;)
can we brainstorm cheap ways to stay there? If someone knows someone with an American Credit card we can Hotwire...that is a great way to get great hotels for CHEAP!
